Clinging to the ground surface like a fallen star， this species is low-growing and features serrated， triangular leaves with bright color. Striping runs through each leaf and contrasts the plant's dominant color. Endemic to Brazil， Cryptanthus plants live on rain forest floors and are accustomed to humidity. Unlike other Bromeliads， 'Earth Stars' are soil-growing and develop foliage close to the ground. These plants exist underneath forest canopies in a natural habitat， areas where sunlight is dispersed through vegetation.
